In counselling I help people to explore aspects of their lives that they find challenging and difficult to deal with, which currently affect their thoughts, feelings, and behaviour in ways that their every day life has become affected which is hindering them to live a meaningful life.
Paramount here is for me to establish a trusting therapeutic relationship enabling people to express themselves openly and freely in a confidential and safe environment. I have the professional knowledge and skills to assure people that they are carefully listened to, are understood, and treated with respect and dignity – no matter how confused / difficult the situation might seem.
I am helping people to explore, reflect on, and see parts of their lives more clearly by offering them different perspectives or views, including information that will help them to discover their own issue with new unknown aspects of it which often lead to positive change. I do this not only through 'talking' therapy, People learn very useful skills in my sessions. I implement a variety of experiential exercises which very often lead up to unexpected and welcoming answers and solutions for individuals. Every person is different and unique, I therefore adjust my style and skills to meet people in therapy on their particular level of comfort.
Effective therapy enables people in their own time and at their own pace to choose their goals for living a meaningful life.
I have successfully treated people with issues that range from minor to chronic problems, such as:
- Panic attacks
- PTSD /Trauma
- Sleep difficulties
- Relationship issues
- Self esteem
- Difficult life transitions
- Cultural adjustments / resettlement issues
- Parental problems
- Facing an unexpected illness
